Jasper to Maligne Lake

Posted by on September 4, 2010

We woke up to a cloudy day in Jasper, as predicted by the weather forecast. We decided to take the 50 km drive out to Maligne Lake to go on the boat tour. By the time we got there the weather hadn’t improved much so we decided not to spend the $55 per person for the boat tour. Perhaps another time.

The 50 km drive out was still worth it as we did see some really pretty scenery and a black bear on the side of the road. On our way back into town we stopped at the Jasper Park Lodge and made a supper reservation. Jason and I really enjoyed the Moose’s Nook when we stayed at the lodge 2 years ago.

We got a 6:00pm reservations and returned to the campsite to get ready for the special supper. The Moose’s Nook was excellent as expected. Great service and wonderful food. I was looking forward to the bison tenderloin steak that I had last time, and it did not disappoint. Jason enjoyed a prime rib that was the size of a dinner plate! Everything was fantastic!!

After supper we returned to our campsite and purchased a fire permit. The weather looked like it might hold out enough for us to have an evening fire. Well at least until our 11pm cut off time!
