Day Two at the Copper River Princess

Posted by on June 15, 2010

This morning we woke up to a cloudy day at the Copper River Princess. Since we had a good look at the Wrangell Range the night before we were all up for sleeping in followed by a leisurely breakfast at the Two Rivers Restaurant. Great food and service as usual.

After breakfast we went to the Wrangell St. Elias National Park Visitors Center. We were just in time for the park ranger’s talk on the grizzly bear. I don’t think that we were able to learn anything new but it was a good presentation. After the bear presentation we went to a short film on the national park. It was really well done. The maker of the film spent 5 years in the park creating this film. This national park is huge, about three times larger than Yellowstone.

After that we went to Copper Center, a small town just to the south. We didn’t see anything in the town worth stopping for so we just drove around a bit. There was some guys fishing at a RV park next to the copper river. There were 6 or so guys fishing, and a couple guys cutting up big salmon. After I saw a salmon caught in these waters it kinda makes me want to try one day.
