Anchorage to Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge

Posted by on June 12, 2010

Today was a beautiful morning, we went to earthquake park in Anchorage and then started off towards Denali National Park.

We had overcast sky most of the way and just past Wasilla we saw a tall range of mountains sticking up from the horizon, Dad was pretty sure it was Denali. Kara shouted STOP and I slammed on the breaks and swerved through the nonexistent oncoming traffic to the unofficial rest stop. We stopped for a few pictures and then we were off again. Then we went to Telketna and looked around town, but the spot where we saw Denali the year before, was clouded over…

We pushed on to the Mt. McKninley Wilderness Lodge but like the many of the reviews we read before, you can’t have your rooms until 3:30, so we waited around in the spacious lodge until we could get our room. After a short nap we went to dinner at the Mountain View Restaurant. We enjoyed salmon and halibut (and the view, which was mostly clouded over)
