Acclimating the Dog to the Vacuum the easy way!

When Roomba fired up today, Lincoln showed some apprehension towards it. He was a little bit uneasy, and would try and avoid confrontation with the device. So I took his new Christmas Penguin and attached it to the back of Roomba and let Lincoln follow it around for a while. In 5 minutes they where best friends.

2011 Enduro Race in Saskatoon

It’s that time of the year again, the Annual Enduro Race in Saskatoon!

I won’t bore you with the details, suffice to say that we had a great time and they put on a great show. The race is 3 segments, 100 laps each and hardly any rules. This year was different because they added plastic barrels of water on the track that the drivers needed to avoid – and when they didn’t hilarity ensued. Team Pogoda was in the lead for most of it until they had some mechanical issues. In the end, Logan took the checkered flag, (wearing cowboy boots) (He always wears cowboy boots)

Kara had some fun shooting some action pictures which forced her to hone her trigger finger, and she did. I was shocked to see that she actually got 3 photos of barrels being hit.

Anyway, Enjoy.

4 Weeks with a Boston Terrier Puppy

Yes, 4 weeks have come and gone with “Wathaman’s Fast Hot Rod Lincoln” and he’s a Superstar! This week his ears perked right up and they stay up unless he’s running, then he folds them back to increase his aerodynamic efficiency.

Sometimes I feel some frustration when a particular training goal or behavior is not advancing as quickly as I would like, but then I remember all the things that he HAS learned already. Not to mention that WE TOO are learning all this – I think we are all getting the hang of it. He knows when it’s “Training Time” and he gets right into it.

Here are some progress pictures of our little gentleman. (mostly for Heather and Erin over at Wathaman’s (The Boston Terrier breeder we got him from))

The first week with a Puppy

Our first week as puppy parents has come and gone. Our worries of being kept up all night and house-training horror stories were all for naught.

Every single night he goes to sleep right away and even seems a little grumpy that we woke him to go pee in the middle of the night.  After the second night we thought we would let him wake us when he had to go out, he didn’t. He slept right through the night. We are starting to see the light about crate training and are happy we chose this method.

During the day, he comes to work with me. I’ve been allowed to take him to work while we house train him and that is working out great! He sits quietly in his crate and naps in spite of the door being open. I’m very happy with his good manors at work. When we get home, he gets fed (again) and lots of play time in the back yard as we can’t take him for walks quite yet.

He has had lots of social attention too! We’ve had what seems like an endless stream of visitors and an equal number of “Dog Sitting” offers. We’ve also already had 2 sessions with our trainer “Karen” and our own training at home is going well too. You really do need to work on training fast, because at this age it seems he has about 42 seconds of attention span.

Now, Enjoy some backyard romping photos. Thanks to Noah for sharing some of his pictures too.

Lincoln Comes Home!

Yes, Our “Wathamans Fast Hot Rod Lincoln” came home tonight from the Breeder.  He is being such a good boy going outside twice with no accident so far!  He really enjoys playing with his fox toy and of course cuddling, as you can see from the video below.  What a cutie!

Mitch is also adjusting very well.  He just sits and watches him. So far so good!
